XLRI to confer Sir Jehangir Medal to SBI chairman

Jamshedpur: Smt. Arundhati Bhattacharya, the Chairman of State Bank of India is visiting Jamshedpur on 22.03.2014 on the eve of 58th convocation of XLRI, Jamshedpur. Smt. Bhattacharya will address the convocation as the Chief Guest and will confer the Diploma to the passing out students of the Institute. She will also be honoured by the Institute with �Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace� for her contributions.

Mrs. Bhattacharya assumed the office as Chairman of State Bank of India on 7th October, 2013 and got the distinction to become the first woman Chairman of the country�s largest Bank. Mrs. Bhattacharya, a post graduate from the Jadhavpur University, West Bengal, joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer in 1977 and held various important assignments including a stint in the Bank�s New York Office.

During her visit to the City, she will donate a bus for benefit of differently abled students of the �School of Hope� under Bank�s CSR activity. Thereafter, she will have an interaction with some of customers of the Bank.

An e-lobby at Jamshedpur Branch will be dedicated by her for the benefit of the customers of the Bank. The e-lobby will be first of such kind in the state of Bihar and Jharkhand, where facilities of ATMs, Cash Deposit Machine, Self Service Kiosk, Internet Banking Kiosk, Cheque Deposit Machine and Coin Vending machine will all be available 24×7 to the customers of the Bank, under one roof.
