ICICI Bank CEO Sandeep Bakhshi to receive XLRI Jamshedpur’s Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal

Jamshedpur: Sandeep Bakhshi, Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank, will be the recipient of XLRI’s prestigious Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace at the 70th Annual Convocation of XLRI – Xavier School of Management on March 28.

The convocation ceremony for the Batch of 2026 will be held at the Tata Auditorium, XLRI Jamshedpur, from 5:00 pm onwards. The event will witness the presence of distinguished dignitaries, industry leaders, faculty members, and graduating students, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the institute.

Bakhshi, who will also deliver the convocation address, is an alumnus of XLRI. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Punjab Engineering College and a postgraduate degree in management from XLRI. He has been associated with ICICI since 1986 and was appointed MD and CEO in October 2018. Prior to this, he served as Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance from 2010 to 2018 and earlier led ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company.

The Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal for Industrial and Social Peace, instituted in 1966 in honour of Sir Jehangir Ghandy, recognizes exemplary leadership that contributes to industrial harmony and societal progress. It is among the oldest honours instituted by a higher education institution in India and is awarded annually during XLRI’s convocation ceremony.

Over the years, the medal has been conferred upon eminent leaders such as N. R. Narayana Murthy, Shiv Nadar, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Mallika Srinivasan, Sunil Kant Munjal, Adi Godrej and T. V. Mohandas Pai.

The programme will include invocation, Director’s Report, Chairman’s Address, conferment of the Sir Jehangir Ghandy Medal, convocation address, and distribution of diplomas to graduates. Medals for academic excellence, recognition for research publications, and honours for long-dedicated service will also be presented during the ceremony.
