XLers to probe panacea for multinational companies’ problems

43rd Maxi Fair launch at XLRI

Jamshedpur, Jan 16: The 43rd XLRI Maxi Fair, the annual disguised Market and Consumer Behaviour Research Fair conducted by the Marketing Association of XLRI (MAXI) was officially launched today.

The event will be held on January 21 and 22 at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus.

XLRI alumnus CVL Srinivas was the chief guest on the occasion. Director Father S. George SJ, Dean Academics Sanjay Patro, and Dean Admin Father Donald D’Souza jointly with the organizing committee of Maxi Fair lit the lamp and duly launched the Maxi Fair.

Budding managers of XLRI will study consumer behaviour and solve problems faced by six multinational companies during the two-day 43rd Maxi Fair.

Research will be done on the problems of the following companies: P&G, G, PepsiCo, Bata, Prefferty, and ICICI.

Addressing the gathering, Father S. George said that efforts are being made to carry forward the legacy of 75 years of XLRI.

“Life throws at us various challenges and how bravely we overcome them is Management,” he said, adding,” At Maxi Fair, various problems in the industries are tried to be solved in a fun way and it has been running continuously for the past 42 years.”

CVL Srinivas, an alumnus of the BM batch 1993 batch was present on the occasion. He said, “I got a two-year management course certificate from XLRI, but apart from that, the value-based education provided by XLRI was the most special. The basic difference between XLers and other business schools in today’s era is that the education imparted to students of XLRI helps in preparing better managers for the country as well as better citizens. He said XLRI taught him life skills, a problem-solving attitude, creativity, organisational skills, etc. He stated that XLRI is also special because he got his life partner from the B-school.

This fair has entertainment for the whole family. For kids, we also have a drawing competition, a fancy dress competition, as well as a dance competition. And for adults, competitions like Jamshedpur’s favorite family, Ms. and Mrs. Jamshedpur, and MasterChef. Apart from trying your luck at winning exciting gifts like beauty hampers, washing machines, televisions, etc. in these competitions, you can also enjoy various fun games and rides, Box Cricket, Water Zorbing, a Bouncy Castle, and much more. You can also indulge in your favorite foods at 35+ food stalls.

This time, for complete family entertainment, MAXI Fair is bringing the famous singer- Shahid Mallya. Mallya has sung songs in movies like Gunday, Student of the Year, Udta Punjab, and Jab Harry Met Sejal. He will perform at MAXI Fair from 7 pm on January 22 at the XLRI grounds.

Started in 1979, the Maxi Fair is a unique effort by the students of XLRI to conduct market research within the format of a games fair. The idea was first proposed by Prof Sharad Sarin, Professor of Marketing at XLRI, in 1976.
