XAT 2017 test pattern to remain pen-paper based, exam on January 8

Jamshedpur, October 15: Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) for admission to XLRI and 150 other B Schools of the country will be conducted on January 8, 2017.

Registration for taking the entrance examination has started and would continue till November 30. Students can log on to the official website of the institution for online registration.

The fee for registration is Rs 1600 and Rs 300 will be charged extra if a student wants to get admitted to XLRI. According to the college management, the admit card for the examination can be downloaded from the website December 20 onwards.

Examination will be conducted in 49 cities (47 within India and 2 outside India).XLRI has made no major changes in the examination pattern and like every year the exam will be held on Pen-Paper mode but the forms will be filled online.

The format of XAT would remain pen-paper based. The paper-pen mode also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.

The XAT exam will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 2 papers. There will be 78 questions in Paper-1 which would have questions based on Quantitative Ability, English Language, Logical Reasoning and Decision Making. Paper-2 will be of Mix Objective type where General Knowledge questions will be asked.

This paper will also consist of subjective type questions. Students will be examined on how they think about on a particular subject for which questions related to essay writing will also be asked. Like previous years, English language questions will be tough.

XAT exam centres will be set up at several cities across India including Agartala, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jammu, Jamshedpur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nasik, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Surat, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam.

The XAT exam timing will be 10 am to 1.30 pm. Two foreign centres will be in Kathmandu and Dubai. The last day for registration without late fine is November 30 and with late fine the last date is December 11.

Apart from XLRI, around 150 B-schools in India accept the scores of XAT exam as part of their admission criteria.
