World Stroke Day programme at TMH

Jamshedpur, Oct. 29: Department of Neurosciences, Tata Main Hospital, organised a programme on World Stroke Day at TMH Auditorium on Thursday.

Mr Suresh Dutt Tripathi, V-P, HRM, Tata Steel, graced the occasion as the chief guest Dr M N Singh, Head of Neurosciences Department at TMH, delivered a speech about stroke. He spoke about its symptoms and what measures can be taken to avoid it. Dr Manish Pai, neurosurgeon, TMH, spoke about the role of neurosurgery in stroke patients.

Mr Tripathi informed the patients and their family members present on the occasion that stroke is for third largest cause for deaths in the world. He also mentioned that a person dies of stroke every 6 seconds in the world.

Every year, October 29 is observed as World Stroke Day to emphasize on need for prevention and treatment of this disease. Stroke is the third largest killer health condition in the world. This is an important cause of premature death and disability all over the world, mainly in the developing countries, including India.
