Seraikela: Sadar Hospital Seraikela observed World AIDS Day with an awareness program organized by the District Legal Services Authority and the Health Department. The event, held under the guidance of Principal District and Sessions Judge Ramashankar Singh, aimed to educate the public about AIDS prevention and the importance of seeking timely treatment.
The program highlighted the severity of AIDS and emphasized that it can be avoided through caution, awareness, and safe practices. Medical professionals, including Dr. Chandan Kumar, Dr. Gayasuddin, and panel advocate Sushil Poddar, addressed the attendees, sharing crucial information about the disease’s prevention, symptoms, and the importance of seeking proper medical care. Hospital staff, including ICTC lab technician Mukesh Sharma and para-legal volunteers, were also present to assist with the outreach.
In a significant development, Civil Surgeon Dr. Ajay Kumar Sinha announced the upcoming availability of state-of-the-art machines for antibody testing at Sadar Hospital. These machines will enable local testing for various diseases, including HIV, hepatitis A, B, C, tuberculosis, syphilis, brucellosis, and Lyme disease. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on residents who previously had to travel to Jamshedpur for testing.
Dr. Sinha explained that testing kits had been requested from the state, and the process would begin as soon as they arrive. Once operational, these advanced testing facilities will not only provide faster results but also reduce the need for external testing, offering relief from high expenses. The local testing capabilities will greatly improve the efficiency of diagnosis and treatment for HIV, dengue, and other diseases prevalent in the district.
This move is expected to streamline healthcare in the region, ensuring timely treatment and better management of public health. The celebration of World AIDS Day and the introduction of these new testing services represent a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services in Seraikela and raising awareness about the prevention and treatment of AIDS.
