Seraikela, Feb 24: A 45-year-old worker Yudhisthir Mahato died during work at KYS Manufacturer and Export Company at Adityapur Industrial Area on Wednesday.
It is alleged by the irate workers that the death happened as the safety protocols were not being followed by the private unit and the workers demanded adequate compensation and a job for the dependents of the deceased worker.
The eldest son of the deceased worker, Sudip Mahato said that his father had started work four months back at the company and they have four members in the family including their mother.
The irate workers have demanded Rs 20 lakh as compensation and a job for the dependents of the deceased and threatened to not conduct last rites of the body till their demands are fulfilled.
Adityapur police reached the spot and is trying to mediate between the company management and the workers.
KYS Manufacturer and Export Company management after meeting with JMM leaders and district police officials decided to provide compensation of Rs 10 lakh to kin of the deceased and a job to a family member of late Yudhisthir Mahato who died during work at the company premises in Adityapur Industrial Area.
