Women protest opening of liquor shop

Jamshedpur, Feb 4: Villagers of Jagannathpur in Bagbera have joined hand to resist attempts to open a government liquor shop in their area and have submitted memorandum to the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar and Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren to stop opening of the liquor shop.

Women members of Ajeevika Mahila Gram Sangathan played a crucial role in unifying women to resist the attempt and airing grievances before East Singhbhum deputy commissioner and MLA. The women have threatened that the district administration should take step to stop opening of the liquor shop or they would be forced to take the step by themselves and they would not allow opening of liquor shops to disturb peace in their area. Memorandum has also been submitted to Bagbera thana and Jamshedpur BDO.
