Women perform Gangour Puja at Thakurbari Mandir

Jamshedpur, April 15: The 16 day Gangour Puja concluded today with the performance of religious rituals. As it was already announced by the Sakchi unit of Purvi Singhbhum Zila Marwari Sammelan (PSZMS), community immersion of Gangour images would noit be performed in view of COVID infections prevailing in the city and preventive protocols in place. Instead, devotees immersed the Gangour idols in small water bodies dug at home.

Maintaining all COVID protocols, Marwari women assembled at the Thakurbari Mandir in Sakchi on Thursday and performed prayers and sang bhajans seeking blessings of peace, prosperity and good health for all. The Sakchi unit of PSZMS had arranged flowers and grass shoots required for prayer offerings. PSZMS members present on the occasion to manage affairs in the temple included president Mahavir Prasad Modi, general secretary Suresh Kumar Kauntia, treasurer Abhishek Agrawal Goldie, sunny Sanghi, Sumit Agrawal ‘Mintu’, Manoj Moonka, Gaurav Agrawal, Satish Sharma, Rajkumar Mudia and others.
