Jamshedpur: Jharkhand government has reduced 30 per cent reservation for women and in protest at Jharkhand Deputy Commissioner’s office Women’s Welfare Committee staged demonstration.
Welfare Committee chairman Shankari Devi and JMM leader Pramod Lal, submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
They said that former Hemant Soren government had decided to give 50 percent reservation for women but Raghuvar Das government has reduced to 30 percent, which is prejudicial to the rights of women.
Committee Chairman Shankari Devi said that equal rights of men to women in the country is the need. Women are not behind in any work.
Despite this concern, reducing reservation is never acceptable. Secretary and treasurer of the Committee on the occasion Poonam Devi Saraswati Sandil were present in large numbers.
