Woman lodges dowry case against in-laws

Jamshedpur: Sidhgora police have registered a case of dowry torture against one Ashish Kumar and his family members on the complaint of his wife Shiva Kumari.

The alleged victim was allegedly made captive at her matrimonial home in Nandnagar, Bhuiyandih, for three days and was also reportedly denied food. Later, she was driven out of her house, the complaint said.

Police said the FIR was also lodged against the victim�s father in-law Vishwanath Yadav, brother in-law Varun Kumar and uncle Sanjay Yadav. Shiva Kumari was married on 7th December 2015.

Her parents had reportedly given cash worth Rs 2 lakh, ornaments worth Rs 2 lakh, goods worth Rs 1.5 lakh and a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to her in-laws.

After marriage, Ashish kept his wife at his uncle�s house and left for Bengaluru, police said. Later the accused persons demanded Rs 10 lakh from the victim�s parents.
