Jamshedpur : In a major road mishap a 26-year-old woman was killed on the spot and over a dozen injured when the pick-up van they were travelling in was overturned at Makulakocha on NH-33 under Chandil police station area.
The injured were rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital where condition of two of the victims were stated to be critical.
Those who met the mishap were contract workers and were returning home after finishing concreting work of an underconstructed house at Azadnagar in Jamshedpur. The driver of the vehicle, however, managed to escape unhurt just before the vehicle overturned.
Officer-in-charge, Chandil police station, Ashok Kumar Singh said that the mishap took place due to the high speed driving. “In the mishap, in all 14 persons were injured as the vehicle overturned. One of the mishap victims who was a woman died due to fatal head injury.
Two other workers have sustained grievous head injuries, and the rest of the victims had injuries in the legs and hands,” said officer-in-charge, Chandil police station. He said that the woman killed in the mishap was identified as Saraswati Soren, who hailed from Amjore in Patamda.
