Jamshedpur, Feb 24: In yet another IED blast, a middle-aged woman was seriously injured as she fell victim to an IED blast at a jungle under the Tonto police station area in West Singhbhum on Friday morning.
The victim was identified as Jema Bahanda. She went to the Runkuburu jungle from her house in adjoining Patatarob village to pick up firewood when the incident took place.
As a result of the blast, the woman’s legs and lower abdomen were ruptured, causing her to fall down on the spot.
Soon after the blast, a company of paramilitary 60 battalions entered the jungle and rescued the injured. The police had first taken the injured woman to a local health hub but keeping her condition in view they rushed her to Chaibasa Sadar Hospital for better treatment.
Sources said that it was a low-intensity IED that was meant to blow up the paramilitary forces in the Runkuburu jungle which falls in the jurisdiction of the Porahat forest division.
