Jamshedpur, Sep 7: A tragic incident unfolded at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur when 50-year-old Vaishali from Gamharia died after an oxygen cylinder fell on her. According to her son, Gurucharan, Vaishali was admitted to the emergency ward on Wednesday due to severe health issues. On Saturday morning, she began struggling and fell under the bed, causing an oxygen cylinder to topple onto her. The cylinder inflicted severe injuries to her hand and head, which contributed to her death.
Hospital Superintendent Ravindra Kumar stated, “Vaishali’s death was primarily due to multi-organ failure, compounded by her already deteriorated health condition. She had been admitted to the hospital several times before.” Following the incident, Vaishali’s family took her body home after the unfortunate accident.
Health Minister Banna Gupta has taken immediate action in response to this incident. In a statement on social media, Gupta expressed his concern and directed a thorough investigation. “The Jamshedpur DC is instructed to form a committee to investigate the cylinder accident at MGM Hospital and submit a detailed report within three days. Legal action should be taken against those found responsible or negligent,” Gupta emphasized.
This directive aims to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future, reflecting the government’s commitment to maintaining hospital safety standards. The investigation is expected to uncover the circumstances leading to the incident and address any lapses in hospital protocols.
