Chandil: A woman was burnt and property worth Rs 2 lakh was destroyed in a fire that broke out in three houses in Chilgu Punarvas Colony under Chandil police station area on Thursday.
The house owner Tarni Gorai said the incident occurred in the afternoon when the kutcha house was caught in flames. The villagers doused the fire on their own.
After one hour, a fire tender arrived in the village. The victim, Parul Gorai, wife of Pandu Gorai, was burnt in the incident.
Cash worth Rs 50,000, a motorcycle, three TVs, three bicycles, three mobile phones, three beds, utensils worth Rs 20,000 and a gold chain were burnt in the incident.
