Jamshedpur, Nov 18: A dramatic scene unfolded near Jubilee Park in the Bistupur police station area on Tuesday afternoon when a woman, who runs a roadside tea stall, thrashed her husband in the middle of the road following a dispute over her daily earnings.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was preparing tea at her stall, as she does every day, when her husband arrived and demanded money from the day’s collection.
When the woman refused, a verbal altercation ensued, quickly escalating into a physical confrontation.
The woman alleged that her husband has been unemployed for several months and has placed the entire burden of running the household on her shoulders.
She further claimed that he frequently abuses her and their child, using offensive and abusive language.
Witnesses confirmed that the man was repeatedly hurling abuses at her on Tuesday as well, which provoked the woman and led to the scuffle.
The incident turned emotionally intense when the woman’s young child, visibly distressed, pleaded with her to leave her father.
But the woman continued hitting her husband.
The commotion attracted a crowd, and locals intervened to separate the two.
Some bystanders also alerted the police. Officers from Bistupur police station soon reached the spot, pacified the situation, and brought both parties to the police station for questioning.
Police officials stated that further action will be taken after recording the woman’s complaint and the husband’s statement.
