Jamshedpur: A young woman attempted suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of her house on Road No 17 at Azadnagar in Mango.

The woman, Tabassum Parveen (25) who had already sustained grievous injury in her neck due to the abortive bid of hanging was rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency. A mother of two sons, Tabassum had hung herself with her ‘dupatta’

Tabassum’s father-in-law Abdul Bari said that she was depressed due to her illness and she might have tried to end her life. But on being queried, Bari, who runs a transport business, revealed that there was a quarrel with someone in the family.

Assistant sub-inspector Suresh Kumar of the Sakchi police station had come to take a statement of the injured woman, but he found her not in a condition to speak.

“I will take the statement from the injured woman for knowing the reason behind the bid on her life,” said the ASI who is posted at the MGM Medical College Hospital by the Sakchi police where the hospital is situated.
