Gamharia : The residents of Cinema Hall Busti in Kandra police station area (in Seraikela-Kharsawan) have accused the police of implicating one Rama Shankar Sharma, a local youth, in the case of gang-rape of a 10 year old girl who was thrown into a well after being burnt by the accused persons a few days back.
They demanded that the youth should be released immediately as he was not the real culprit in the case.
Sona Devi, the wife of Rama Shankar Sharma, alleged that the police had arrested her husband without properly investigating the incident.
In a meeting with the SP of Seraikela-Kharsawan Sanjeev Kumar, she claimed that her husband had in fact tried to save the victim by trying to bring her out of the well where she was thrown by the culprits.
Sona Devi said her husband had brought the girl out of the well with the help of other residents of the Busti and took her to the hospital. She said her husband would have easily escaped instead of helping the victim if he had been the culprit.
The SP said the police had made the arrest on the basis of evidence collected from the crime scene. He said the police would be looking into the complaint lodged by Sona Devi to find out if there was any truth in her allegations.
