With 8 corona positives on Sunday, tally up to 178 in Jamshedpur

COVID-19 cases breach 1143 mark in Jharkhand with 113 new cases

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, June 7: The coronavirus cases are increasing at a rapid pace in Jharkhand. 113 new cases came in on Sunday, June 7, taking the total state tally to 1143. Jamshedpur which is leading with the most COVID-19 cases among the 24 districts has again reported 8 new cases taking the tally in East Singhbhum to 178. All the new positives in Jamshedpur have travel history thankfully they were in institutional quarantine. All the new positives in the Steel City have been admitted to TMH COVID-19 ward. One case each came up from Dumaria, Dhalbhumgarh, Sakchi, Azadnagar while two cases have been reported from Baridih. Till the filing of this report at 9 pm, 13 cases came up from Simdega, 11 from Lohardaga, 8 from Jamshedpur, 7 from Dhanbad, 6 from Ramgarh, 4 from Gumla, 3 each from Hazaribagh, Latehar and Garhwa, 2 from Koderma, 8 from Jamtara, one from West Singhbhum, 2 from Ranchi, one each from Khunti, Seraikela and Bokaro, taking the day�s tally to 73 while 1101 positives have been reported in the state. The positive from West Singhbhum is a resident of Jaraikela and had returned from Maharashtra. He was in quarantine at Commerce College. Earlier on Saturday 90 positive cases came in which breached one thousand mark. Cases in Kolhan have crossed 200 mark with 22 cases each from West Singhbhum and Seraikela while 177 cases have been reported from East Singhbhum.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state has increased to 1101. The death toll has climbed to 7. At least 473 people have recovered from the disease in Jharkhand while around 600 active cases are there in the state. East Singhbhum has become the new hot spot in the state with 153 active cases followed by Simdega with 96.
Sahebganj has become the 24th district in the state to be infected with COVID-19 virus. Three active cases are there in Sahebganj. Most of the corona positives are migrant workers. Most of the positives in East Singhbhum have travel history and have returned from other states.
Earlier on Tuesday, two intern doctors at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) were found to be Covid-19 positive, health officials said, adding that they had a recent travel history.
East Singhbhum district accounts for 177 cases respectively out of a total of 1101.
A total of 5,415 people, who returned to the state recently, are under surveillance and asymptomatic, while 4,084 have completed the 28-day observation period.
While 91,765 people are in various quarantine centres, 2,91,828 people are in home quarantine, the bulletin said.
The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients is 44.94 per cent in Jharkhand and the mortality rate is 0.7 per cent, it added.
The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease.
