Jamshedpur, April 15: Jamshedpur recorded 492 new Covid-19 cases in the highest single-day spike ever since the pandemic began last year. With the fresh cases, Steel City’s positive cases tally has mounted to 2511, according to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, a total of 4 people succumbed to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 411.
On Wednesday, Jamshedpur had reported a total of 368 new Coronavirus infections in a day.
With Jamshedpur breaking its pandemic record every day, Jharkhand government is planning to impose fresh curbs and curfew to contain the virus spread.
The positivity rate rose to 3.30 per cent in Jamshedpur.
The cumulative coronavirus case count stands at 22493 and the death count is now 411, according to the latest health bulletin.
The new cases came out of the 6282 tests conducted on Thursday.
Of the 492 new cases, 475 are from Jamshedpur urban area, 8 from Ghatsila, 7 from Dumaria, and one each from Chakulia and Musabani.
There are 2511 active COVID-19 cases in Jamshedpur. The infection tally in the Steel City has gone up to 22493 and a total of 411 fatalities due to the disease have been recorded so far.
As many 19571 people have recovered from COVID-19 so far with 264 recoveries recorded in the last 24-hours. Over 6000 COVID-19 tests, including 2988 RT-PCR and 2961 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 256261 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur has dropped down to 88.96% while the mortality rate is 1.83 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 698552 samples have been collected out of which 682167 have been tested and 659674 have turned out to be negative.
