Jamshedpur: The winter chill has returned across Jharkhand as the minimum temperature dipped significantly in several districts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi Meteorological Centre has predicted further cooling in the coming days, bringing relief to some and discomfort to others as the state continues to experience fluctuating weather patterns.
According to the latest forecast, Jharkhand will witness misty mornings, followed by mainly clear skies in the later part of the day. The IMD has indicated a further drop in the maximum temperature by 3-4°C over the next three days, after which no significant change is expected for the subsequent two days.
Met statistics reveal that Chatra recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 6.6°C, followed by Garhwa at 7°C. Other districts also reported significantly low temperatures, with Khunti registering 7.3°C, Hazaribagh at 8.4°C, Daltonganj at 8.7°C, and Bokaro recording 10.4°C.
The drop in temperature has been attributed to a Western Disturbance, which has led to cooler conditions. The disturbance is being observed as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan and the Jammu region at 3.1 km above mean sea level, with a trough aloft in the middle tropospheric level extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
The IMD has warned that a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan region from February 8. This could bring further changes in the weather pattern across northern and central India, including Jharkhand.
With colder days ahead, residents have been advised to take necessary precautions, especially early in the morning and during late evening hours when the chill is at its peak. Experts recommend wearing warm clothing, consuming hot beverages, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the cold to prevent weather-related illnesses.
