Will take cricket forward, build transparent Jharkhand State Cricket Association: SK Behera

Jamshedpur, May 15: The upcoming Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) elections have taken an interesting turn as renowned industrialist and clean-image candidate SK Behera formally announced his candidature for the post of president, presenting a full panel of nominees. His entry has intensified the contest, especially as he faces Congress leader Ajaynath Shahdeo, who is also contesting for the top post.

Behera, backed by a team dubbed “Amitabh Ke Log” — a nod to former JSCA president Amitabh Chaudhary — has vowed to continue Chaudhary’s legacy of strong leadership and development-oriented administration. “We are here to take cricket forward and strengthen the JSCA as a transparent and accountable organization,” said Behera. He also made a bold statement, asserting that if anything goes wrong under his leadership, he would not hesitate to resign.

The team includes Nandu Patel for vice-president, Dr SB Singh as honorary secretary, Saumya Sen as honorary treasurer, and Rajkumar Sharma as honorary joint secretary. Committee member candidates are Shrawan Jajodia, Nawal Kishore Upadhyay, Gopal Krishna Sahay, Mohammad Ozair, and Gurubari Hembram. District representative candidates include Arun Kumar Rai, Alok Kumar Roy, Pravir Kumar Singh, Dinesh Kumar Singh, and Shubham Kumar.

Behera emphasized that his team is not driven by political ambition or a desire for power. “We are not politicians. We don’t seek money or positions. Everything we have is already given by God. Our only aim is to develop the organization,” he said, adding that his team is receiving widespread support.

With both teams declaring strong agendas, the JSCA election, scheduled for May 18, is shaping up to be a significant event in Jharkhand cricket.
