Will provide all possible help to O.N.G.C. in drilling coal-bed methane: CM

Ranchi, Oct 6: Terming methane as an important source of energy, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that O.N.G.C.�s endeavor to obtain & use coal-bed methane in Jharkhand is an important step to realize the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi�s green energy.

The coal-bed Methane (CBM) will be utilized in refueling the vehicles & producing thermo- electricity. It will create employment for the local youths & small industries will be established with the green energy.

He said that the state govt. will provide all possible help to O.N.G.C. in drilling coal-bed methane. He said that the officers of the state govt. will remain in touch with the O.N.G.C. officers & extend all possible help including providing required land & deploying ample security guards for drilling coal-bed methane.

The CM said it while talking to C.M.D. , O.N.G.C. Dinesh Saraf in his office chamber of Project Building.

He said that C.B.M. is an ideal energy for power plants & it can be used as C.N.G. in automobiles also. The C.B.M. drilled at Dhanbad & Bokaro can be utilized as fuel in Sindri Fertilizer factory. Owing to its high inflammability, it can also be utilized in cement plants, rolling mills & as fuel in refractories.

A survey conducted by MECON India Ltd. reveals that a big quantity of C.B.M. can be utilized in Jharkhand itself which ultimately focuses at boosting up green energy.

CMD told the CM that the company will drill 280 C.B.M. wells in 400 square km areas of North Karnpura, Bokaro & Jharia. These wells will start producing C.B.M. in the next 15-20 years. It will earn the state govt. a royalty of Rs. 720 crore .

He said that Jharkhand standing third in the Ease Of Doing Business has encouraged O.N.G.C. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said that 10% import of the total crude oil & gas has to be reduced by 2022. The O.N.G.C.�s endeavor to speed up the drilling process of C.B.M. is part of the vision.

He said that 1.7 acre of land is required for drilling one well. Hence the company requires govt. as well as private land for its drilling plant. He said that O.N.G.C. will work for the upliftment of local people under CSR.

On this occasion, the Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Director, O.N.G.C. Sarvashree Shashi Sekhar, A.K.Dwivedi, V.P.Mahwar, A.K.Srinivasan, Chief Manager Rajiv Prasad & local manager , O.N.G.C. Bokaro S.M. K. Hayat and other people were present.
