Jamshedpur, Sept 14: Wildlife Week (WLW) 2025 will be celebrated in Jamshedpur from October 3 to October 12, jointly organized by Tata Steel Zoological Park and the Jamshedpur Forest Division.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about wildlife conservation, biodiversity protection, and to support the goals of the Government of India’s LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) initiative.
This year’s theme is “Panchayat for Wildlife Conservation”, highlighting the role of community participation in protecting nature.
The week-long celebration will feature engaging events such as a Walkathon, Marathon, Photography Competition, Essay Writing, Debate, Keeper Talk sessions, and an On-the-Spot Painting Competition.
More than 1,000 participants are expected to take part.
The celebration will be formally inaugurated on October 3 by Smitha Pankaj, IFS, Regional Chief Conservator of Forest, East Singhbhum, Govt. of Jharkhand, followed by a Walkathon from Van Bhawan to Tata zoo and back.

Oct 3 (Friday): Inauguration & Walkathon – Open to all
Oct 5 (Sunday): Marathon at Saharbera near Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary – Open to all
Oct 6 (Monday): On-the-Spot Essay Writing (Std. VIII–XII) at Tata Zoo
Oct 7 (Tuesday): Debate (Std. VIII–XII) at Tata Zoo
Oct 8 (Wednesday): Photography Competition at Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary – Open to all
Oct 8–9 (Thu–Fri): “Keeper Talk” at Tata Zoo
Oct 12 (Sunday): On-the-Spot Painting Competition at Tata Zoo (Nursery–Std. X) followed by Closing Ceremony
The organizers emphasized that Wildlife Week is not just a celebration but a movement to inspire collective responsibility towards safeguarding India’s rich flora and fauna.
