Jamshedpur: On the final day of the Wildlife Week Celebrations 2014 at Tata zoo, an On-The-Spot painting competition was organized in association with Off The Wall Art Gallery.
A total of 182 students from 23 schools participated in the competition which was followed by the Closing Ceremony during which chief guest Dr JK Sinha, District Animal Husbandry Officer, East Singhbhum and Guest of Honour KN Venkat presented awards to the winners of the On the Spot Painting Competition.
The On the Spot Painting Competition was organized for four categories – Primary Category (Nursery – Std 1), Junior Category (Std II-V), Middle Category (Std. VI-VIII) and Senior Category (Std. IX-X).
The winners in these categories were Tanishka Tiwari of Loyola School (Primary Category), Baivhav Kummar of JUSCO School South Park (Junior Category), Aayush Poddar of St. Mary’s English High School (Middle Category) and Akash Nandi of St. Mary’s English High School (Senior Category).
The judges for the competition were Brindavan Debnath, D Tulsi, Mrinmoy Pramanik and Monika Banerjee. Present during the On the Spot Painting Competition from Tata Steel Zoological Park were Bipul Chakrabarty, Director, SK Mahato, Curator and Rahul Tiwary, Zoo Volunteer.
Wildlife Week Celebrations 2014 started on 7th October 2014 and witnessed a number of events including Best Eco Club Award, Inter School Essay Competition, Inter School Debate Competition, Inter School Quiz Competition, Slogan Writing Contest, Fancy Dress Competition and On The Spot Painting Competition. A total number of 544 students across 23 institutions participated in these competitions.
Wildlife Week Celebrations 2014 were coordinated by Seema Rani, Biologist cum Education Officer, Tata Steel Zoological Park and Sandeep Raj Singh.
The various programmes during the Wildlife Week Celebrations 2014 were sponsored by Rotary Club of Jamshedpur Steel City, Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur, Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur ZEST, Lions Club of Jamshedpur Steel City, Off The Wall Art Gallery, KN Venkat from Venkat’s Consultancy and Chhaganlal Dayaljee Sons Jewellers.
