Jamshedpur, Oct 25: A wild elephant wreaked havoc in Kendadangri village of Chalunia panchayat under Chakulia block on the day of Deepawali. It entered the farms early morning and destroyed standing paddy crops.
Alarmed by the pachyderm’s entry, the villagers scared it away towards nearby Salgarhiya forests. Due to prompt action by villagers, no damage was caused to any house, sources said.
Forest officials later reached the village and took the elephant away from the residential area.
