Widow paraded for sons offence

Chandil: The sub divisional officer of Chandil Manjunath Bhajantri has started a probe into the incident of forcing a 62 year old woman to parade by villagers of Hedemuli village under Tiruldih police station area.

The woman, a widow, was asked to parade after some of the accused persons applied vermilion (sindur) on her head in a bid to punish her for the elopement of her son Rajkishore Singh Manki.

Manki had allegedly escaped with a girl of the same village on the day of her marriage on 8th May last.

The villagers were irked over the incident. They decided to punish Manki by tormenting his mother, sources said.

The SDM asked the victim to lodge a complaint with the Tiruldih police station and asked the BDO of Kukdu to take necessary measures to provide assistance and relief to the victim of public torture.
