2 Burnt Alive as 3 Trucks Collide & Catch Fire Near Giridih

Giridih (IANS): A horrific road accident claimed the lives of two people on Thursday morning near a toll plaza in Jharkhand’s Giridih district. Three trucks collided and burst into flames, burning a driver and a cleaner alive before they could escape the wreckage.

The accident occurred near the Kulgo toll plaza under the Dumri police station limits. A speeding truck traveling from Bagodar lost control and rammed into two trucks parked along the roadside. The impact triggered a massive fire that rapidly engulfed the cabins of the vehicles.

Eyewitnesses reported that the intense heat and towering flames prevented locals from approaching the trucks to rescue those trapped inside. The fire completely gutted two of the trucks and partially damaged the third.

Teams from the Dumri police station and the fire brigade rushed to the scene. Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control, and officials later recovered the charred bodies from the debris. Another truck driver sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition at Dumri Referral Hospital.

Dumri SDPO Sumit Prasad stated that authorities are currently working to identify the deceased. “Prima facie, overspeeding and negligence caused the accident,” Prasad noted. Police have cleared the damaged vehicles to restore traffic and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events.
