Western disturbance brings cloud cover, warmer nights in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A Western Disturbance moving through the northern parts of the country has brought changes in weather patterns across Jharkhand, resulting in cloud formation and a noticeable rise in minimum temperatures. Light rain was also reported in Koderma, Gumla, and Barhi over the past 24 hours, further highlighting the system’s influence.

According to meteorological data, minimum temperatures have shown a rising trend across most parts of the state. Ranchi recorded a minimum temperature of 11.2 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above the normal for this time of year. Similarly, Jamshedpur reported a minimum of 12.7 degrees Celsius, also two degrees above normal. Daltonganj experienced a notable increase, with the minimum temperature reaching 12.1 degrees Celsius—three degrees above normal.

Weather experts suggest that no significant synoptic conditions currently prevail over Jharkhand. However, satellite imagery has provided insights into the atmospheric disturbances affecting the region. The Western Disturbance, observed as a cyclonic circulation, is located over northern Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan, with its influence extending between 3.1 and 7.6 km above mean sea level.

Additionally, an induced cyclonic circulation associated with the disturbance has formed a low-pressure area over northwest Rajasthan and its adjoining regions. This system is evident up to 1.5 km above mean sea level, contributing to the localized weather variations seen in Jharkhand.

While the cloud cover has provided some respite from colder nights, the ongoing changes in atmospheric patterns are being closely monitored by meteorologists. Residents are advised to stay updated on the weather forecast as the Western Disturbance continues to influence conditions in the region.
