West Singhbhum anti-naxal operation yields 5 Kg IED

Jamshedpur: Security forces in West Singhbhum have recovered a 5 kg Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites in the forested and hilly areas around Tumbahaka and Pradhan Ghat under Tonto police station. This recovery is part of an ongoing joint operation targeting top leaders and members of the banned CPI(Maoist) Naxalite organization.

Top leaders of the CPI(Maoist) Naxalite organization, including Misir Besra, Anmael, Maechhu, Anal, Asim Mandal, Chaman, Ajay Mehta, Sagan Angaria, and Ashwin, along with their squad members, have been identified as operating in the Kalehan area with the intent of conducting subversive activities. In response, a formidable joint operation team has been assembled, consisting of Chaibasa Police, Kobra 209 BTR, 203 BTR, 205 BTR, Jharkhand Jaguar, and CRPF units: 60 BTR, 197 BTR, 157 BTR, 174 BTR, 193 BTR, 134 BTR, 26 BTR, and 11 BTR. This combined force has been conducting continuous operations since 10th October 2023 in the border areas of villages including Kuida, Chhota Kuida, Maradiri, Meralgada, Hathiburu, Tilaybara Boypaisang, Katamba, Bayahatu, Boraey, and Lemsadih under Gailkera police station, and Husipi, Rajabasa, Tumbahaka, Regra, Patata Erb, Gaeburu, and Luiya under Tanta police station.

During today’s operation, the joint forces successfully identified and recovered one 5 kg IED planted by the Naxalites near Tumbahaka and Pradhan Ghat. The explosive device, which was intended to target security forces, was safely destroyed in place by the bomb disposal squad to prevent any potential threat to the lives of security personnel and civilians in the vicinity.

The recovery of the IED marks a critical success in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations in West Singhbhum. The security forces remain vigilant and continue to conduct operations aimed at neutralizing the threat posed by Naxalite activities in the region. The successful recovery and disposal of the IED reflect their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the community from insurgent activities.
