Jamshedpur, June 12: A major incident of an IED blast was averted by the timely input and action by West Singhbhum Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The security forces involved in flushing out Maoists from West Singhbhum on Friday recovered about 40 improvised explosive device (IED) from the road connecting Kuida to Hathiburu under Goilkera police station area of West Singhbhum district. The jawans of CRPF’s 60 battalion and district police recovered the improvised explosive device (IED) during patrolling.

“The Maoists wanted to trigger a major blast. However, acting on a tip off we managed to recover the bombs. During the patrolling the security personnel recovered the bombs. We immediately pressed an anti-bomb disposal squad on service and the bombs were defused,” said an official.
Sources informed that a sudden rise in the Maoists activities have let the forces intensify the patrolling. Following the incident the police have launched combing operations in the naxal-infested areas of West Sighbhum.
In the last few days an anti insurgency operation in Kolhan has been intensified following intelligence reports that suggest rebels are camping in the pockets. The administration has increased police patrolling on the bordering areas connecting to West Bengal and has also deployed adequate numbers of paramilitary personnel on areas potential to rebel attack.
Security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxalites. The plan is to keep a tab on the camps being operated by ultras, said another official.
According to information the security forces besides taking up other issues, recently resolved to increase ‘joint operation’ with the neighbouring states in all the naxal infested blocks of the three districts that are attached to bordering states of West Bengal and Odisha.
