Jamshedpur, April 13: Unseeded duo of Md Adil and Chiradeep Mazumdar claimed the Boys Doubles Under 18 title at the ongoing Beldih Club All India National Ranking Junior Tennis Championship Series 2023, being held at the sand clay courts of the Beldih Club.
The duo of Md Adil and Chiradeep Mazumder from West Bengal played a tight opening set as the set progressed to a tie-breaker. In the breaker, the unseeded boys proved to be lucky as they pocketed the set by a close 7-6(4). In the second, it was more of a one-sided affair as Adil and Chiradeep walked away with the match by a straight 7-6(4),6-3 against Shounak Chatterjee & Siddhant Mohapatra.
In the Girls Doubles Under 18 category, second seeded Aleena Farid and Kinza Shaikh of West Bengal claimed the title as they won the final match against top seeded Prashansa Shrivasta of Bihar and Saumya Chatterjee of West Bengal by a straight 6-1,6-4.
The finals of Boys & Girls Singles Under 18 will be played on Friday, April 14 from 8:30 am onward. The prize distribution ceremony will be held at 12 noon tentatively.
