Deoghar, July 21: In a significant development for devotees of Baba Baidyanath, Minister Mithlesh Thakur announced plans to construct a corridor at the revered site in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The announcement came during the inauguration of the Shravani Mela 2024 on Sunday, which is set to officially commence on Monday.
Minister Thakur revealed that the Jharkhand government, through its tourism department, has prepared a proposal for the Baba Baidyanath Corridor, aiming to enhance the pilgrimage experience similar to other prominent religious sites in India. He appealed to the local community for support in realizing this ambitious project.
The Shravani Mela, a month-long religious fair, was jointly inaugurated by Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur and Agriculture Minister Deepika Pandey Singh. The ceremony began with traditional rituals, including worship performed by 11 Vedic priests.
Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Vishal Sagar outlined the administration’s preparations for the fair, emphasizing that VIP and out-of-turn darshans would be suspended during the event as per state government directives. Minister Thakur assured attendees that all measures would be taken to ensure the convenience and safety of Kanwariyas (pilgrims) visiting Babadham.
Minister Singh stressed the fair’s national significance and instructed officials to pay special attention to pilgrims’ needs. Both ministers highlighted expectations of a significant increase in devotee numbers compared to the previous year.
The inauguration was attended by various officials and public representatives, including Tourism Secretary Manoj Kumar and Superintendent of Police Ajit Peter Dungdung. As Deoghar prepares to welcome pilgrims, authorities are focused on providing a seamless and spiritually enriching experience for all visitors to the Shravani Mela 2024.
