Jamshedpur, Jan 22: In a span of just 20 days, thieves have targeted over 10 apartments in Jamshedpur and Adityapur, stealing goods worth lakhs. Despite multiple incidents, the police have yet to crack a single case, leaving residents anxious and questioning the security measures in place.

An investigation into the security situation in apartments across Adityapur, Mango, Parsudih and Jugsalai has uncovered significant concerns. Many apartments lack security guards or functioning CCTV cameras and in some cases, even when guards are present, they fail to properly screen unfamiliar visitors. This lapse in security has raised alarms among residents and highlights the urgent need for improved safety measures. SSP Kishore Kaushal assured, “The police are actively working to curb these thefts. All accused will be arrested soon.” However, residents remain unconvinced as thefts continue unabated.

Alarming security gaps
- Parsudih and Bagbera: Apartments such as Shiva, Sai, Parvati Phase One and Shanti Niketan lack guards and have malfunctioning CCTV cameras.
- Jugsalai: Out of 150 apartments, including Loknath and Krishna Janaki Apartments, most have only one or two guards who rarely enforce security checks.
- Adityapur: Apartments like Sahara Garden Society and Earth Enclave employ agency-hired guards who are indifferent to security.
- Mango: With over 300 apartments, including Moon City and Madhusudan Apartments, guards are present but fail to monitor outsiders effectively.
