Jamshedpur: Water supply irregularities in Bagbera Housing Colony have intensified over the past several days, causing significant inconvenience to residents.
Taking cognizance of the issue, Panchayat Samiti member Sunil Gupta on Thursday held detailed discussions with PHED Executive Engineer Sumit Prakash, SDO Mahendra Baitha, and contractor Basant Singh. He also conducted a joint inspection of the newly constructed filter pump house at Bistupur and the Bagbera Colony pump house.
During the inspection, officials and public representatives interacted with the pump house operators to assess the ground realities. Gupta stated that the scheduled water supply timings have been disrupted. On Thursday, the morning supply, which was slated for 6 am, was provided only around 4 pm, while on Tuesday, the 4 pm supply was pushed to 7 pm.
This pattern has persisted for several days, affecting the daily routine of residents in the 1,140 quarters of Bagbera Housing Colony. He added that the absence of a fixed water supply timetable has made everyday activities difficult for the residents. According to denizens, the discussions with officials and the contractor were positive, and the officials assured that they would initiate corrective measures.
Executive engineer Sumit Prakash, SDO Mahendra Baitha, and contractor Basant Singh jointly informed that construction of the new filter pump house at Bistupur is nearly complete. Trial supply of treated water from the new pump house to Bagbera Colony is currently underway. They assured that the prevailing irregularities in water supply would be resolved soon and that fixed timings for morning and evening supply would be restored and communicated to consumers. Residents are hopeful that the department’s efforts will lead to a lasting solution to the water supply issues in the colony.
