Water scarcity hits villages

Jamshedpur: Water scarcity hit even before the onset of summer in rural areas including Bagbera, Kitadih, Ghaghidih, Karandih, and Parsudih.

Bagbera Mahanagar Vikas Samiti has submitted memorandum to DC requesting for supply of drinking water through tankers of Jusco and Tarapore.

President of the Samiti Subodh Kumar Jha said that if the demand was not met within next five days the organization would stir up agitation on the issue.

The organization demanded early repair of all defunct hand-pumps in 21 panchyats of Bagbera, early completion of Bagbera and Govindpur Water Supply Project and distribution of water through tankers on behalf of the district administration.

The aggrieved villagers said that about 80 percent of hand-pumps had gone defunct and ground water table plunged below 150 feet.
