Water project worth Rs 4000 cr to be inaugurated in May: CM

Ranchi, March 26: Chief Minister Raghubar Das today announced that water will be supplied to Palamu and Garhwa through pipeline connected to river Sone through a project worth Rs 4000 crore.

He said the detailed project report for the said proposal was ready, adding that the foundation for the project is expected to be laid in May this year.

In another announcement, the CM said the town of Nagar Utari will be renamed as Vanshidhar Nagar. He directed the deputy commissioner of Nagar Utari to take appropriate steps in this regard.

Das made the announcement while addressing a gathering at the inaugural function of Vanshidhar Mahotsava organized in Nagar Utari. He said after the implementation of the said project, people would not face water crisis, be it for drinking purpose or for irrigating agricultural land. By the year 2022, piped water will be supplied all over the state, he said.

Das further said that there was huge scope for the tourism sector to grow in Jharkhand. �If we develop tourism sector in the state, there will be a steady flow of foreign currency. Tourism industry can prove instrumental in making the state prosperous. We will develop the region on the lines of Mathura and Vrindavan,� he said.

The CM said very soon a civil court will be established in Nagar Utari. He said the state would develop only when the villages develop. He said the state government was dedicated to eliminate poverty and unemployment from the state. He said that arms could only kill people, but could never save a life in an appeal to Naxalites.

Among others present on the occasion included state minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi, MP of Palamu VD Ram, local MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi, Garhwa MLA Satyendra Nath Tiwary, Hussainabad MLA Kushwaha Shivpujan Mehta and Daltonganj MLA Alok Chourasia.
