Water Crisis in Jamshedpur: Demand for 30 tankers to supply water

Jamshedpur: Amid a severe water crisis in Bagbera , district BJP leader and Bagbera  Mahanagar Vikas Samiti President Subodh Jha has urged the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, District Administration, Tata Steel, Tata Steel UISL, Tarapore Company, Urban Services Tata Steel, and various social organizations to arrange for water supply through tankers to address the growing shortage.

Jha highlighted that both Bagbera  Gramin Jal Purti Yojana and Bagbera  Housing Colony Jal Purti Yojana remain incomplete, exacerbating the crisis. The water table has dropped below 350 feet in seven panchayats of Bagbera , five panchayats of Ghaghidih, and three panchayats of Kitadih. Despite boring attempts up to 650 feet in several locations, no water was found.

Currently, MP Bidyut Mahato is providing water through just one tanker, which is insufficient for the needs of the residents. Villagers are forced to buy drinking water bottles for ₹25-₹30, further burdening them financially.

To combat the crisis, Jha has demanded that the district administration arrange for 30 tankers to supply daily water to the 1.2 lakh residents of the area, ensuring relief during the summer months.
