Jamshedpur, March 28: Dimna colony residents in Mango are facing a severe water crisis, enduring a fifteen-day-long deprivation of water supply. Forced to resort to fetching water from Dimna Lake, approximately five kilometers away, the daily lives of these residents, mostly comprising daily wage earners, have been severely disrupted. The situation escalated when expectations of a water tanker’s arrival on Thursday morning were dashed, leading to frustration among the locals who took to the streets to express their discontent.

Upon being informed about the dire situation, BJP leader Vikas Singh visited the area to assess the predicament firsthand. Residents lamented that not a single drop of water had been supplied to the colony in the past fifteen days, compelling them to undertake arduous journeys to procure water from distant sources. Singh promptly relayed the grievances to officials from the Drinking Water Health Department and the Municipal Corporation, warning against the perilous consequences of neglecting the fundamental need for water.

Expressing adamant resolve, Singh emphasized that if the situation remains unresolved, they would not hesitate to take drastic measures. He threatened to mobilize the local community to surround the residence of MLA and Health Minister Banna Gupta. Singh asserted that such action was imperative to awaken Gupta to the plight of the people, as their cries for assistance had gone unheeded for too long. The gathering included numerous concerned residents, including Vikas Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Sanju Devi, Jagbandhu Mahato, and others, who joined forces to demand immediate action to alleviate the water scarcity plaguing Dimna colony.

MMC presses tankers into service to meet water crisis

Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has taken proactive measures to address water supply disruptions in various localities including Dimna Basti, Sankosai Road No. 5, Bagan Shahi, Shyam Nagar, Ramnagar, inner part of Sankosai Road No. 1, and Laxman Nagar.

Following the burning of a water pump motor in Dimna Basti, which led to water supply interruptions, the Mango Municipal Corporation swiftly deployed water tankers to ensure that residents in the affected areas did not face water shortages. Additional Municipal Commissioner Ranjit Lohra has ordered immediate water supply through tankers wherever water supply is disrupted in the municipal corporation area.
