Ranchi, May 5: BJP’s Jharkhand in-charge Dr. Laxmikant Bajpai launched a strong attack on the Congress and the INDIA alliance, accusing them of double standards and appeasement politics. Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office, he stated that the BJP organized demonstrations across all districts of Jharkhand, where memorandums were submitted to the Deputy Commissioners, demanding the identification and deportation of Pakistani nationals residing illegally in the state.
Dr. Vajpayee highlighted that following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 Hindus were killed, the Central Government had canceled 14 categories of visas issued to Pakistanis, and opened the Attari border to facilitate deportation. He said Congress leaders were contradicting themselves — supporting anti-terror measures in all-party meetings while simultaneously questioning the armed forces and central government’s actions through public statements.
He cited remarks by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and former Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi as examples of putting appeasement politics above national interest. Vajpayee also criticized Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai for belittling the Indian Air Force’s capabilities by referring to Rafael fighter jets as “toys,” even after their successful demonstration on Indian highways.
Dr. Vajpayee further accused the Congress of disrespecting the Constitution, referencing the Emergency, retention of Article 370, and neglect of the Mandal Commission. He said that while Congress spoke of constitutional values from the land of tribal icon Birsa Munda, it had historically undermined Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s legacy and constitutional principles.
Defending the Waqf Amendment Act, Vajpayee said it acted as a legal shield to protect tribal land in Scheduled Areas like Jharkhand. He accused the Congress of spreading misinformation about the Act as part of its vote-bank politics.
State BJP leaders Manoj Kumar Singh, Shiv Pujan Pathak, and Rafia Naz were also present at the press conference.
