Jamshedpur, Aug 1: Under-the-weather form persisted on day two of the Subroto Cup football tournament as East Singhbhum boys were beaten by Seraikela-Kharsawan 3-2 in the U17 match played at Tinplate Sports Complex on Thursday, August 1. Four matches were played on the second day of the tournament organised by Tourism, art culture, sports and youth affairs department of Jharkhand under the aegis of East Singhbhum district administration.
In the second match team Seraikela-Kharsawan defeated West Singhbhum by 2 goals to 1 in the U17 girls match. In the next match West Singhbhum boys thrashed Seraikela-Kharsawan team 6-0 in the U17 boys category. East Singhbhum girls also lost the U17 match by 3 goals to 0 in the match against West Singhbhum. Host East Singhbhum has not tasted victory even after the two days of the ongoing Subroto Cup football tournament. On the concluding day of the tournament on August 2, final matches will be played. In U14 boys category East Singhbhum will face West Singhbhum. In U17 boys and girls event final West Singhbhum will be up against Seraikela-Kharsawan in both the categories.
Finals shifted to JRD Sports Complex
Matches during the first two days were played at Tinplate Sports Complex but the organisers have decided to shift the final matches at JRD Tata Sports Complex. The final matches will begin 9 am onwards while the prize distribution will be held from 2 pm onwards. East Singhbhum DC Ravi Shankar Shukla will be present as the chief guest during the prize distribution function. Guest of Honour for the occasion will be DDC B Maheshwari, SDO Chandan Kumar and ADM (Law & order) Subodh Kumar.
Earlier, the matches on day two were inaugurated by district sports officer Manmohan Prasad. After the match the players of all the three districts visited JRD Tata Sports Complex and Jubilee Park, courtesy Manmohan Prasad.
To make the event successful W Rehman, Pitho Soren, Veer Pratap Murmu, Ajambar Singh Sardar, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Nitin Kumar Sharma and Shyam Sharma played a vital role.
