Voting for Panchayat by-election concludes peacefully in East Singhbhum

Jamshedpur: Polling for the three tier Panchayat by-election concluded peacefully in East Singhbhum here on Wednesday. The voting percentage till 3 pm was recorded at 51.16, sources said.

Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar said no report of violence was reported anywhere.

In Mosabani, voter turnout was 45.21 per cent while in Ghasila it was 50.51 per cent. Baharagora and Chakulia witnessed voter turnout of 57.44 and 61.27 per cent respectively.

In the six blocks, voting took place for election of panchayat representatives on 10 posts. Out of these, six posts are for Ward Members, one for Mukhiya, two for Panchayat Samiti members and one for Zila Parishad members.

The voting took place across 152 polling booths in the six blocks of Golmuri-cum-Jugsalai, Potka, Ghatsila, Mosabani, Baharagora and Chakulia.

Counting of votes will take place on 22nd December at Krishi Utpadan Bazar Samiti, Parsudih from 8 am onwards. Strong room has been set up at the same venue, sources said.
