Jamshedpur:In a significant development ahead of the upcoming elections, the East Singhbhum district administration has published the revised voter list under the Second Summary Voter List Revision Program (SSR-2024). District Election Officer Ananya Mittal made the announcement during a press conference at the Collectorate Auditorium.
Mittal revealed that a total of 18,54,767 voters are now registered in the district. This includes 9,27,747 male voters, 9,26,883 female voters, and 137 third-gender voters. The summary revision program also saw the removal of 20,748 voters from the list due to various reasons.
Breaking down the numbers by assembly constituencies, Baharagora has 2,38,049 voters, Ghatshila has 2,48,753 voters, Potka has 3,08,074 voters, Jugsalai has 3,48,498 voters, Jamshedpur East has 3,33,227 voters, and Jamshedpur West tops the list with 3,78,166 voters.
The voter list is available for inspection at all polling stations, AERO and ERO offices, and the District Election Office. Additionally, voters can verify their registration status online. Mittal emphasized that the revision process is still open, allowing eligible citizens to add their names to the voter list.
The newly released voter list highlights a near-equal gender ratio in the district, with 999 women for every 1,000 men. The list also includes 15,825 disabled voters from various categories, underscoring the district’s commitment to inclusivity.
During the event, identity cards were distributed to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in accordance with the State Election Commission’s directives. District Election Officer Ananya Mittal handed over identity cards to Sultana Khatun, BLO of booth number 164 in Jugsalai, and Pirdaus Khatun, BLO of booth number 165. Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh and District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon were also present at the press conference.
The updated voter list is a critical step in ensuring a transparent and inclusive electoral process in East Singhbhum. The district administration has urged all eligible voters to check their status and participate in the democratic process.
