Seraikela, Feb 23: A vibrant display of democratic spirit marked the polling day for the Urban Local Body Elections–2026, with voters turning out in significant numbers across the region.
The highest early momentum was recorded in Seraikela, where long queues were visible at polling booths since morning.

By 1:00 pm, Seraikela Nagar Panchayat had registered an impressive 47.57 percent voter turnout. In comparison, turnout figures in Adityapur Municipal Corporation and Kapali Municipal Council were relatively lower at 34.82 percent and 35.59 percent respectively.
However, the pace picked up notably after 3:00 pm. Seraikela’s turnout rose to 63.07 percent, while Adityapur and Kapali also witnessed a steady surge, reaching 46.84 percent and 48.22 percent respectively.

The growing participation reflected increasing voter enthusiasm as the day progressed.
By 5:00 pm, Seraikela maintained its lead with a substantial 74.86 percent turnout. Adityapur recorded 56.06 percent, while Kapali stood at 57.38 percent. Officials stated that the final figures are awaited, as voters who were in queue at the time of closing will be allowed to cast their ballots.

The trend throughout the day highlighted a steady rise in participation:
9:00 am: Seraikela – 13.68%, Adityapur – 9.35%, Kapali – 8.99%
11:00 am: Seraikela – 31.30%, Adityapur – 21.80%, Kapali – 22.13%
1:00 pm: Seraikela – 47.57%, Adityapur – 34.82%, Kapali – 35.59%
3:00 pm: Seraikela – 63.07%, Adityapur – 46.84%, Kapali – 48.22%
5:00 pm: Seraikela – 74.86%, Adityapur – 56.06%, Kapali – 57.38%
Overall, the polling day witnessed a progressive rise in voter turnout, underscoring strong civic participation and reaffirming public faith in the democratic process
