Vivekanand International School organizes ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ to promote environmental awareness

Jamshedpur, July 27: Vivekanand International School (VIS) in Mango organized a forest festival under its plantation drive titled Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A tree in mother’s name). The event aimed to foster environmental consciousness among students and the community.

Basanti Raghuraj and Seema Kumar from Rotary Club, Femina, attended the event as chief guests. Environmentalist Deepak Srivastava and Human Welfare Trust Secretary Mukhtar Alam Khan were present as special guests.

A children’s painting exhibition on environmental themes was organized, showcasing the creative ideas and awareness of the young minds. Faiza Fatma, a class 10 student, spoke on environmental issues and the critical importance of trees in sustaining life.

Under the guidance of teacher Swapna, school girls presented the eco-song “Aao Saathi Ped Lagayen”. The students of UKG delivered thoughtful messages through a short, meaningful play.

Inspiring speeches were delivered by all the guests, emphasizing the need for collective responsibility towards the environment. Mukhtar Alam Khan, brand ambassador of Mango Municipal Corporation, remarked that a tree should be planted in the name of both mother and father, as both are equally significant and revered in life.

Principal Dr. Nidhi Srivastava delivered the welcome address, urging everyone to commit to environmental protection and tree plantation. The event was graced by dignitaries including Tahir Hussain (Hind ITI), Raju Gorai (Central Peace Committee), Md. Moinuddin Ansari (Human Welfare Trust), Master Siddiqui Ali, Jamshed Ali, and members of the Garib Nawaz Relief Fund.

Administrator Saumya Deep extended a warm welcome to the guests. The event was conducted by teacher Shahnawaz Khan, with vital contributions from other teachers and staff in organizing, decorating, and managing the event.
