Jamshedpur, Jan. 30: The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE), in association with the Tinplate Company of India Limited, organized the 17th Color Splash Competition today, at Centre for Excellence. This competition was organized for the English medium schools of Jamshedpur. 176 students from 19 schools participated.
The students were divided into two groups � Senior (Class 3 to 5) and Junior (Class 6 � 9). They were given the required art material; Senior group was given acrylic colours and oil pastels were given to the Junior group. �Swachh Bharat Abhiyan� and �Save Water, Save Life� were the topics given to the Senior and Junior groups, respectively. The competition started at 10 am and the participants were given two hours to complete their work.
R N Murthy, managing director, TCIL, was the Chief Guest of Color Splash 2019. He inaugurated the event by putting the first stroke on a blank canvas. Speaking on the occasion Murthy said �School students are always pressurized to concentrate on studies, practice Maths, memorize written content, thereby utilizing only the left hemisphere of their brain. Art is also an important aspect of education and should be paid equal attention, to develop the right hemisphere of the brain.� Murthy also interacted with and motivated the young participants.
The 17th Color Splash was judged by eminent artists of the city Public Biswas and Krishna Sharan Mahato. They are senior art teachers from the Jamshedpur School of Art, and have been passionately pursuing Art for over three decades now.
The winner in the senior group was Vishwa Ranjan of Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya. Muskan Kumari of S.D.S.M School For Excellence won the second prize followed by Sayantan Dey of Kerala Samajam Model School.
In the junior group Ishant Kumar Sharma of D.B.M.S Kadma High School bagged the first place, Sneha Kundu of Vig English School was second and Anjali Kumari of Vidya Bharati Chinmaya Vidyalaya was the second runners-up.
SPPE has always been providing a platform to the young citizens of our city, to nurture various skills, through several programs. Color Splash was organized with the aim to trigger the artistic inclination of students, which is an important component of a child�s education.T CIL has been supporting this initiative of SPPE since 2002.
