Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) is planning to implement Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 strictly in Jamshedpur. From 15th November onwards, stringent action would be taken against those flouting the rules. This was informed here on Saturday by the special officer of JNAC Sanjay Kumar.
Kumar said that the role of every citizen was important in keeping the city clean and beautiful. He said cleanliness was not merely the subject of administrative function but was also something essentially related to social and behavioral traits. He said the city may perform better in Swachh Sarvekshan 2018 if the people cooperate with the district administration.
Kumar said the city manager of JNAC had been asked to evaluate the performance of cleanliness inspectors and contractors on the basis of daily reports of city’s cleanliness. He said the remuneration of cleanliness inspectors would be withheld in case they are found to be slack.
Kumar went on to inform that FIRs would be lodged against those burning or destroying dustbins. Fines would be imposed on people throwing garbage here and there, he said, adding that the city has been divided into three zones, namely East, West and Central. New contractors have been appointed for these zones, he said.
