Jamshedpur, Aug. 28 : About 100 villagers staged a two-hour long demonstration near the West Singhbhum district collectorate at Chaibasa protesting against denial of public distribution system (PDS) foodgrain for several months. They claimed to have ration cards but still were denied for the food grains.
A food right activists who was present at the site of agitation said that the villagers belong to both priority household (PH) ration card andAntyodaya beneficiaries and claim to have not received foodgrains between September and December 2018.
A villager of Podahat village in Sonua block of the West Singhbhum district who was also amongst the demonstrators, said that they have complained to the deputy commissioner, block supply officer and district grievance redress officer as none of the card holders in the village have received PDS grains but no action has been taken even after so many months.
