Villagers fasting unto death for girl�s high school

Jamshedpur: The villagers of Ghagidih, Kitadih and Bagbera Mouja area accompanied by members of Youth Debate Society today sat on fast unto death before the office of the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum to demand opening of a girl�s high school in the area.

The agitators said the district administration should fulfill the demand since there was no high school for girls in the area. The area has a population of around 3 lakh at present with majority of the people belonging to lower and middle class.

There are government primary schools in the area, but no high school, the agitators said.

The agitators said memorandum was given to the DC some 64 times, but the demand for opening the school was not fulfilled.

Those present during the agitation included Nikhil Kishore, Ravindra Singh, Santosh Jaisawal, Bahadur Kisku, Sushil Khan, Namir Murmu, Kishun Hembram, Baburam Lohar, Zeba Sinku, Majura Sevai, Nandlal Sardar, Sudama Chand and Ramesh Soren.
