Jamshedpur : Diarrhoea broke out in Kandra in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, sending warning signals to the district health department.
The residents of Kanchanpada Azad Basti are the worst hit. With the complaints of loose motion and vomiting several residents have been admitted at local nursing homes. After preliminary test, it has been confirmed that all these patients were suffering from diarrhoea.
The health department functionaries are trying to find out through public announcement system as to if anyone else was suffering from the diarrhoea, and also taking measures spraying DDT at the places across the Seraikela.
The health officials are maintaining the medical team is camping in the affected area carrying out necessary medical help to the affected villagers but the locals have complained that in the wake of small team of medical staff and insufficient medicines the treatment measures are going on slow pace.
“For more than 80 people suffering from diarrhoea the district administration has sent a 14 member team with one doctor and limited medicines which is very disappointing,” said a villager
The health authorities on Monday claimed, by and large, things are under control and said additional health teams are being readied to rush to the affected area. “Apart from the existing 14 member team (which is camping at the site) led by area medical officer a fresh medical team of doctors and paramedical staff will be sent there,”
said SK Jha , civil surgeon.
He also said that sample of the contaminated water will be sent to the lab for ascertaining the disease.
